Teaching methods
There are a number of innovative features within EUROPHAMILI.
Varied Teaching methods, adapted to the learning outcomes
The programme is built on alternation of academic teaching through 8 units (3 days a week) and the field work placement (3 days a week) where trainees collect data and carry out a professional study that they define with the placement institution.
Course structure
During the Teaching Units a good balance between more formal academic lectures and interactive teaching and learning methods has been struck. The latter include case studies, exchanges, discussions, personal and group work.
TU 8 consists of a case study related to a cross border cooperation programme. Trainees visit institutions and professionals and write reports on site.
Use of Innovative technical tools
The EUROPHAMILI website includes a distance learning platform that enables trainees to carry out both individual and collective work, whilst encouraging exchanges with teachers and tutors.
Trainees have permanent access to Internet and a resources centre.
The TU8 case study leads to the production of a CD Rom that is given to the trainees and disseminated to European professional and academic institutions.
Tutoring and mentorship
EUROPHAMILI offers a complete system of guidance for the trainees at different levels. This includes induction within the teaching institution, the country and the work placement. This support is provided by academic tutors, field tutors and mentors.
The field tutors are employees of the field placement institution. They are responsible for supervising the trainees during the entire length of the professional placement and production of the professional study.
The academic tutors are teachers from the permanent teaching staff of the host country’s accredited EUROPHAMILI course provider. They offer methodological advice to the trainees in connection with their field work and the drafting of the professional study report.
The tutors meet during the introductory week and receive a methodological guide outlining their expected missions.
Mentors are students from the host country who volunteer to show and guide the EUROPHAMILI trainees around the host institution and city thus facilitating their integration within the host country and training programme.
