Open society foundation for Albania

Encouraging young people to beome leaders in Albania's development and future has been a major priority for the Open Society Foundation for Albania (OSFA) over the last several years. Scholarship and fellowship programs sponsored by OSFA have helped young Albanians study abroad. Salary supplements and job placement initiatives supported by the Foundation are now prompting qualified young people to return to Albania to reform and rebuild the country's public institutions. OSFA supplemented the salaries of fellows working in the ministries of foreign affairs, justice, foreighn trade, and transportation as well as the prime minister's office.

ALASS

. The "raison d'être" of ALASS is based on the hypothesis that there exists a Latin culture whose main characteristics can be perceived through specific values, attitudes towards quality of life and health, way of living and positions regarding disease and accident prevention as well as the use of healthcare services. Furthermore there are specificities in health policy making, defining priorities, solidarity, equity and accessibility within health services. With regard to this, ALASS recognises national, but also regional and local specificities but looks to develop on fundamental shared characteristics of a certain Latin culture. In this way, ALASS wishes to facilitate understanding of particuliar problems encountered in the various Latin countries and to help in identifying solutions adapted to their health systems.
