All three projects started in 1999 and should end in 2007; they deal with research on asthma and allergies of children; the focus is layed on the protective effect of a rural environment on the development of the regarded diseases; several university and teaching hospitals are involved; 10.000 children are included in the project

Being a nurse in the Euregion Meuse Rhine - Border Region
Students and professors from the 3 countries of the Euregion meet on a yearly basis to exchange information and experiences about health care, education and the role of a nurse. This co-operation may facilitate nurses'mobility in the region. Once a year, there is a Euregional day and a Euregional exchange week in the capitals of the Euregio. The project was initially supported by INTERREG.
Biomedical physics in vocational training at different levels: targeting distance education
This project aims at training students to the use of medical technology. The project will develop, test and evaluate training modules and materials of training.These training materials will be prepared for traditional and for distance learning before being evaluated by external advisors and by the medical professionals who piloted them.
Biotechnology: from academic research to starting a company
Competitivity in biotechnologies will depend on how research will be transformed in products. This project aims at training researchers in managing companies.The partnership intends to produce a Web-based training product comprising: - a catalogues of works accessible on-line - business plans models - an interactive training programme and courses in video - links to start-ups websites
C.I.V.O.T. in Public Health - Content of initial and vocational training in public health in European Member States
Scientists and institutions will collect information about training in the area of public health care in Europe. It aims at improving the understanding of professional qualifications and degrees. the targets are professionals, health administrations, institutions, universities. The results will be available on a CD-rom and on an interactive website.
CAMROQ
"Anti-cancer chemotherapy - from risk management to quality optimisation". Training in isolation technology for pharmacists and nursing staff. Objectives: improvement of care quality, technology transfer, cost reduction, wide-scale dissemination.
Cancer development project - Border Region
This project is supported by the CAWT (Cooperation and Working Together.) Cancer patients experienced major difficulties because of the isolation of Donegal. That is why, it has been decide: - to enhance the secondary care treatment provision at Letterkenny hospital (to reduce the number of patients travelling to Dublin), - to refer patients to the nearest tertiary care centre (Belfast).Some oncologist and nurses have been appointed at Letterkenny and a cancer day unit has been completed. In 2002, 4000 patients used this facility (reducing the number of patients travelling outside Donegal).
CHRONOS, psychiatric hospital network - Border Region
CHRONOS is a co-operation between psychatric hospitals in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. It creates a "Euregional cross border academy" for people with chronic psychiatric problems. It also aims at intensifying professional cooperation (meetings and discussion about psychiatric cases). An INTERREG III application has been prepared for the period 2003-2006.

From theory to nursing practice, innovative clinical training process to facilitate vocational integration. Training process which will facilitate the integration of student nurses and improve the quality of skills of nursing staff who need to be retrained.
