Neurological reintegration programs - border regions
Development of optimal treatment and rehabilitation for patients with neurological diseases (multiple sclerosis). Cross border network (8 hospitals, 2 universities, 2 expert centres, 4 patient organisation, 2 umbrella organisations) for exchange of expertise and permanent co-operation. The project will run to mid 2006. INTERREG III support has been applied for via the Euregion "Benelux Mieden Gebied".
Feasibility study: hospital of Gmünd open to Czech patients - Border Region
Feasibilty study in progress with the aim to design a project; it i still to be decided if the project will include general medical care or emergency only; problems to be solved yet concern the missing of a bilateral agreement between social insurance agencies, language, self payment contributions by patients, bureaucratic work in case of deaths, etc.
Health care in chronic non-fatal disease by the example of inflammatory bowel disease
Study on health care in the field of gastro-enterology in which an important chronic non- fatal disease will undergo an analysis of all important aspects related to long term disease outcome. Supported by the European Commission under the "Quality of Life and Management of Living resources" programme.
Postgraduate education (Erasmus courses)
MR Diagnostics - head and neck/ MR Diagnostics - muscle-skeletal-system; 1-week intensive courses in english since 1993. The participants come from Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republik. It permits the development of a European curriculum and the editing of a syllabus in english.
Research and prevention of echinocosis alveolar
Joint research program with the research centres of the University of Bern and the University of Franche Comté. Prevention program.
Setting up a coherent set of Health indicators for the European Union
Estimation of the Health levels of the EU population. Determination of the respective weights of morbidity causes to facilitate the definition of priorities and objectives in the field of public health. Funded by the European Commisson under the "Health Monitoring Programme"
Referral of patients with cancer for radiotherapy - border region
Patients needing radiation therapy in the county of South Jutland are referred to St Franziskus hospital. This project is supported by tele-medicine (financed by the county and INTERREG). It provides a better service for patients, saves resources and less transportation is necessary.
Professional exchange / know-how sharing- border region
This project is an educational partnership, in which Finnish specialists visit West Tallin Hospital in order to share knowledge of hospital organisation, diagnostic and curative procedures and operation techniques.Finnnish consultants give lectures to the medical staff. Finnish specialists consult patients with severe problems. A one-week teaching program in the Finnish hospital permits to show the procedures in operation theatres. This project aims at rising up the professional level.
Research on early detection of cancer and treatment
Co-operation on the localisation of cancers (melanoma, breast cancer) through early detection of sentinel ganglions. Exchange of experience, common use of equipment (radio surgery), research activities, education.
Referral for radiation treatment - border region
The oncological department of Sonderborg hospital refers patients for radiation treatment in Flensburg.
