Indoor air pollution in schools
Asthmas and allergies are increasing worldwide, particularly among children. There are pieces of evidences that show the relation with pollution. Aims of the project: -to collect data on air pollution in schools -to compare indoor European policies -to make recommendations for the school environment. Project funded by the European Commission in the field of pollution related diseases.
Information network for immunodeficiencies
Setting up of a European network to provide information on primary immunodeficiencies. Database available on the Internet, validated by experts and consulted with patients and nurses organisations. Supported by the Community Action programme on 'Rare Diseases'.
Insulin Resistance, Obesity and Diabetes Mellitus in the Elderly
Study of various steps of insulin action from the insulin receptor until it reaches the cell mucleus. Special emphasis on the investigation of pathological changes of the molecular mechanism of insulin action in insulin resistance, obesity and NIDDMP of the aged people. It aims at developing new drug-candidates for the curing of the consequences of this diverse disease. Supported by the COST programme, the European Co-operation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research.
KIDSCREEN
Co-operative European development of a standardised screening instruments for children's quality of life which will be used in representative national and European health surveys. Supported by the European Commission under the "Quality of life and Management of Living Resources" programme.
LAWNET
Collection, translation and comparison of legislations relating to the rights and protection of people with dementia throughout Europe. Writing of a set of legal recommendations in order to improve the legal rights and protection of these people. Funded by the European Commission with the action programme on Alzheimer.
Linking up of the hospitals and rescue institutions in the Arge Alp area
Development of telecommunication systems in the Arge Alp area: Baden-Würtemberg (Germany), Bavaria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Salzburg (Austria), South-Tyrol, Trento, Lombardy (Italy), St Gall, Grisons, Ticino (Switzerland). Aim: to link up hospitals and rescue institutions.
