"Health Early Alarm Recognition and Telemonitoring System". Development of a training programme to bridge the gap between the level of scientific achievements in DNA technology and the level of existing skills among medical doctors. Steps of the project: -Implementation of networks between partners -Product development (guidebook, Interactive Multimedia Products, Computer Simulation Software and Web tutorials ) -Assessement Dissemination through conferences, product demonstrations, mass media and a web site. New techniques in arthroscopy and spinel surgery - Czech - Slovakia Border region
Learning of new techniques in the Hospital of St Barbora (Slovakia) conducted by Brno (Czech Republic) hospital: - start of arthroscopy of shoulder, elbow and ankle joints in St Barbora - orthopaedic operation programme - study of the last developments for spinal surgery.
EUHEALS
Evaluation of distant healing (alternative treatment) efficacy. Patients will be randomised to -receive healing and know this, -receive healing without knowing, -wait and know this and -wait without knowing. Evaluation after 6 months will permit to give information for an evidence-based decision of regulatory and reimbursing authorities. Supported by the European Commission under the "Quality of Life and Management of Living resources" programme.
ADMALI Adhesive Interactions in Malaria
Development of the technological and scientific base to design anti-adhesive drugs for the treatment of severe malaria. Funded by the European Commission under the "Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources programme".
ALCOWEB
-Creation of a website about alcohol issues targeting prevention of the general public and information for professionals. -Evaluation of the impact of European information/ prevention policies. -Establishment of standards. Funded by the European Commission under the programme for Health promotion.
AMDREAD Age related macular degeneration
Assessment and optimisation of macular function with special regard to reading and motor control. Funded by the European Commission under the "Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources" Programme.
APHEIS - air pollution
Aims of the project: • Create a Europe-wide epidemiological-surveillance system on air pollution and public health • Quantify the effects of air pollution on public health over time at the local, national and European levels • Assess the importance of factors that can change exposure-response relationships • Deliver standardised, periodic reports on the impact of air pollution on public health. Funded by the European Commission (pollution-related disease project).
