Standardization of management of occupational exposure to HIV/blood-borne

Aim: Rational management of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens in health care workers (HCW), specifically concerning antiretroviral post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Implementation of standardized protocols to monitor occupational exposures to blood-borne pathogens, to educate HCW in preventing occupational exposures and in reporting those which occur, and to guide post-exposure management including prophylaxis and follow up.
