Study on the provision of care; Border region

Up to now the inhabitants of Velenice (Czch Republic) the 2 nearest Czech hospital (at least 50 km far), whereas the hospital of Gmünd (Austria) is just separated by the border. A six-month study has been conducted in order to evaluate how the hospital of Gmünd could provide health care to the inhabitants of Czech Velenice (finance, legal and language aspects). A poll shows that 83% of Czech citizens would be in favour of such a project. This project is funded by PHARE.

Study on cross border integrated care in the Euregion Meuse-Rhine

This project is included in the INTERREG III project "Cross border Health Care in the Euregion of Meuse Rhine". This study analyses the quality of continuity of care after a treatment abroad (inquiry among patients, GPs, nurses, etc) and of the cross border communication of the professionals. The project started in ZOL, Belgium, where Dutch patients are treated.

Study on respiratory pathologies in Sweden, Finland and Estonia

A study was launched by Swedish, Finnish and Estonian institutions on respiratory pathologies (prevalence and risk factors of asthma, chronic bronchitis...). Several reports are on progress. The project was funded by the East European Committee of the Swedish Health Care Community and the cancer fund of Sweden. 3 doctors, 3 nurses and an occupational therapist are affected to the project. Their salaries are funded with grants.

Introduction of a new diploma and Masters diploma in the field of health which will be recognised throughout Europe. Promotion of interdisciplinary cooperation. 24 month-curriculum of transnational courses and study programmes. Financing: Leonardo Programme.

Inhabitants in the border district can use health care facilities on each side of the border. Mostly used in maternity care. 15/20 women from Värmland deliver their babies in Norway (because of the closing of 2 maternities in Värmland).
