Tourcoing-Belgian hospitals
Possibility for French patients suffering from chronic renal insufficiency affiliated to the Social security office of Tourcoing to get dialysis in the private hospital "Le Refuge" in Mouscron, and possibility for Belgian residents with serious disease (Aids…) living in the areas of Mouscron, Courtrai, Comines, Tournai, Ath and Ypres to receive treatment in Tourcoing hospital.
Telemedicine centre for ophtalmology: Kaunas-Lund.
In 2002 the telemedicine centre of Kaunas was establihed, linked to Swedish hospitals. Telemedicine is applied for medical practise, studies and research. The activities concerned are teleconsultations, second opinion, distance education of professionals, exchange of information and the creation of a database and an image bank.
Researches in the field of respiratory diseases
Joint study evaluating H202 hor healthy and asthmatic children to find optimal method of diagnosing and monitoring inflamatory respiratory problems through non invasive methods.
Screening for Breast cancer; Denmark-Sweden. Border region
The County Council of Bornholm purchases medical expertise from Sweden. It offers screening for breast cancer to all Bornhomian women (aged 50-65) once every 2 years. The Danish National Department of Health granted subsidies.
Sharing beds in intensive care and neonatology: Denmark-Sweden
Referral of patients from one hospital to another in case of a lack of bed in one hospital as demand varies considerably. Agreement preferably put in practise for patients needing neonatology care.
Sharing of health facilities
Possibility of using heath care facilities on each side of the border for inhabitants of the border district. Mostly maternity care (closing of 2 maternity units in Värmland).
Teaching for German radiology technicians in Luxembourg. Border region
Common teaching programme for radiology technicians at the hospitals of Luxembourg and Trier delivered by the Luxembourg school. Practical training in radiology and radiation therapy provided by the Trier hospital.
