Videoconferencing & telemedicine for dental surgery - Border Region
Videoconferencing (H323 system) between Umea university hospital and the hospital of Vaasa is used in dental surgery for auditing, education and care (seding pictures from Umea to Vaasa). This project received a funding of 900 000 SEK from INTERREG. The areas covered are the Counties of Vashrbotten in Sweden and Osherbotten in Finland.
Use of the high level security infection unit in the hospital of Schwabing-München
High level infectious Austrian patients are transported to Munich for treatment; transportation is organized by German institutions, medication, blood products, equipment is supplied in Munich; the aim of the project is quality assurance and optimal ecomic efficiency (as there is use for only 1 bed per 3 million inhabitants), the cost is shared between Innsbruck and Munich, the specific education unit in Munich is supported and Austrian staff can be educated there.
Use of electrical stimulation to restore standing in paraplegics with long-term denervated degenerated muscles
Fields covered: research (effects of electrical stimulation in spinal cord injured patients with denervated degenerated muscles (DDM)), medical and social aspects: prevention of secondary diseases in these patients with DDM and therefore also a better social intergation, education: distribution of the new rehabilitation method.
Programme de formation professionnelle continue en Santé Publique pour les infirmières de l'Union Européenne (Implementation of the professional training programme in Public Health for EU nurses)
Project objectives: - To underpin the implementation of the training programme in public headline for nurses in the EU. - To evaluate the impact of the programme on the professional development of the participants in the fields of health promotion and education. - To analyse any difficulties encountered in countries able to offer the programme. - To adapt the programme if necessary. - To assist those countries not able to start the programme in 2001/2002 so that they may do so as soon as possible. - To establish a database of public health nurse teachers in order to facilitate changes and encourage the organisation of the practical placements. - To develop European networks of teachers and those responsible for the training programme. - To share teaching materials and assessment tools as European level. Mobile cardiac Catheterisation service - Border Region
This project is supported by the CAWT « Cooperation And Working Together ». The aim of the project is to make the cardiac catheterisation services more effective, for 45% of deaths in the region are due to cardio vascular diseases. A "cath lab" visit Craigaven twice a month for Irish and British patients requiring cardiac catheterisation services (10 patients/ session). This reduces waiting lists and avoids the need of travelling to Belfast or Dublin.
MORPH - Management Of Risks and Practices in Healthcare
This project responds to a need of risk management implementation. It will provide a video, a CD, brochures and information on internet. Other awareness-raising activities are in progress. Financing: Leonardo da Vinci
