Background
Having studied geology at university I trained as a agricultural soil science at the National School of Agronomy in Rennes In 1980 I was hired by the Chamber of Agriculture to carry out the soil cartography of the Département and since I980 I have been in charge of a team of agricultural engineers whose role is to offer advice and guidance to farmers about crop and environmental management.
On the environmental side I have been involved in setting up initiatives to encourage environmentally friendly farming practice to reduce nitrate, phosphorous and pesticide pollution. In particular this involves watershed management of agricultural run-off in initiatives such as ?Pure water for Brittany? Bretagne eau pure.
A keen European, I have recently also become Head of International Affairs at the Chamber of Agriculture for the Region. This involves collaboration with countries in Eastern Europe such as Poland and so I am especially pleased to join the Europhamili programme.
Background
I trained as a GP and worked for five years in a country practice.
Since 1993 I have been working within the medical department of the social security, and since 1997 this has been in the field of public health where I have been involved in specific studies for regional health administrations.
My activities have dealt with different illnesses such as hypertension or cancer. I have also been working for a number of years on assessing the needs of the elderly and this has involved setting up and using specific assessment tools.
