Background

I am an anthropologist by training having done fieldwork for an MA in North Africa among Bedouin and for a PhD in Afghanistan among Pakhtuns.

Since 1989 I have been the director of an institute which is responsible for providing, enabling and facilitating education, training and research into health care. The institute is supported by the National Public Health Service in Wales, the North East Wales Institute, the University of Wales College of Medicine and Wrexham County Borough Council.

My particular areas of interest are comparative health care systems, concepts of health and illness, and healers, with particular reference to shamans.
