French government's scholarships
Students: for the foreign students coming in France
Grant-awarding organization: the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs
Level: Master
Grant duration: during the 2nd year of the Master
Grant amount: it depends on your country of origin (ex: € 767 / month + payment of tuition fees)
Application details: you have to contact the Services of cooperation and cultural action of Embassies and the general Consulates of France of your country.

Major
Students: former foreign students of French secondary schools abroad
Grant-awarding organization: the Ministry for Foreign Affairs
Study areas: any disciplines after preparatory classes or 1st university cycle in the continuity of the previous studies
Level: 2nd and 3rd degree course
Grant duration: until 3 years
Eligibility: for students, whose AEFE merit scholarship is ending, who want to pursue their graduate studies in France after the first four years of university
Grant amount: monthly allowance at the standard rates retained for the grant holders of the French government according to the cycle of study and the type of frequented establishment. The expenses of training are also taken care
Application details: students in the last year of scholarship of the AEFE present their candidature to the Major merit scholarships (letter in support of application, project of studies, results of the previous programme); the file is passed on to the MAE through the CROUS and through the CNOUS

Eiffel
Students: for the best foreign students who wish to pursue their higher education in France
Grant-awarding organization: the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs
Study areas:
- Engineering
- Economics and management
- Law and political science
Level: Master
Grant duration: for the period required to obtain the Master
Eligibility:
- The Eiffel Excellence Programme offers grants to outstanding foreign students that French higher education centres have identified as especially deserving of a place on their courses
- The grants cover training in France to prepare students for taking up positions of responsibility in the public or private sector (excluding education and research)
- Priority is given to candidates from emerging countries, especially those (in Asia and Latin America, for example) currently under-represented among the student population in France
- Applications from non-proficient French speakers will be considered, and if such an application is accepted, the Eiffel programme will cover preparatory training in the French language of up to one year as requested by the French higher education centre with which the student is enrolled
- Applications from students currently studying outside France will be given priority over those from students already studying in France
Grant amount: € 1,031 per month and covers various additional expenses including travel, health insurance and cultural activities.

AUF (Southern countries)
Students: students from Southern countries in Nothern countries (or students from Northern countries in Southern countries)
Grant-awarding organization: AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) – international
Study areas: sciences
Level: Master
Grant duration: 6-10 months
Eligibility:
- This program encourages the mobility of students from Southern countries towards Northern or Southern establishments, or students from Northern countries towards Southern establishment
- Students from Southern countries pursuing their programme within the framework of doctoral studies, by the allocation of scholarships (scholarships for training in research)
- Students in the training process ( generally 2nd course degree) according to a part of their programme outside of their establishment of origin (scholarships of initial training) the young researchers perfecting in their research works by the allocation of post-doctorate scholarships including the exchanges of researchers between departments of French studies (mobility of perfection in research)
- Teachers and researchers participating in inter-university missions of regional exchanges (of training and\or research), within the framework of the regional and interregional cooperation
- Students from transition countries following trainings in the socioeconomic area (in particular within the framework of the professionalization of the university trainings)
- The students from Northern countries making a training in transition countries
Grant amount: it depends on several criteria. Transport, a monthly grant according to the living costs abroad and insurances are included
